  1. The North Carolina Department of Transportation has placed new posts or bollards at three Wilmington intersections. According to NCDOT deputy director of planning and programming John Vine-Hodge, the positions are temporary and are part of a trial program. The effort intends to address concerns about pedestrian crossing safety. A review will be conducted after 90 days to see whether permanent posts should be installed. (WWAY NewsChannel 3)
  2. The Wilmington Police Department has released details concerning a chase and subsequent arrest that took place on Tuesday, May 23 at approximately 5:10 p.m. According to the WPD, units stopped a vehicle at North Kerr Avenue and McClelland Drive. Officers pursued the suspect, Rocky Point resident Antonio Greene, 43, who eventually stopped the automobile and escaped on foot after the vehicle failed to stop. A WPD K-9 discovered Greene lying in the bushes. Units also discovered a significant number of drugs, including 41 grams of methamphetamine, crack/cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and several tablets. As of Thursday, Greene was being held under a $3,500,000 secured bond at the NHCSO Detention Center. (WECT)
  3. Tony Michael Crisco, 33, from Wilmington, was arrested and charged with four sex crimes on Wednesday, May 24. Crisco was charged with a sexual offense in the first degree, a child abuse sex act, a statutory sex offense with a child under 15, and sexual exploitation of a minor in the first degree. On Thursday, Crisco made his first court appearance before Judge Chad Hogston, who kept him under a $1.5 million secured bond. His felony district court date is scheduled for Jun. 15. (WECT)
