The ingredients in this easy dinner recipe will give you a lot of bang for your grocery buck.
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cabbage head, chopped
- Bacon, optional
You will have an extra half head of cabbage, but it doesn’t need to go to waste.

What to Serve with Ground Beef and Cabbage
- This meal is nearly complete on its own, but a side of mashed potatoes or rice would be perfect, or serve it over some buttered noodles. The crispy bacon on top is optional, but I think the salty crunch is a delicious addition.
- Of course, some dinner rolls or a loaf of crusty French bread would be great, too.

How to Make Ground Beef and Cabbage?

- Add the beef to the pan and cook without moving for 1 minute, to get a nice sear on it.
- Using a wooden spoon, break in into smaller crumbs and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes or until no longer pink.
- Add salt, pepper, thyme, red pepper flakes and chopped cabbage. Add the chicken broth. Stir to combine.
- Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
- If desired, top with crispy bacon.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.

Ingredients
- 1lbground beef
- 1/4teaspoonsalt

Instructions
If using Bacon:
Place a 10 inch cast iron pan or frying pan over medium-high heat.
Once the pan is hot, cut the bacon into 1 inch pieces and add to the pan, distribute evenly.
Let the bacon cook for 1 minute unmoved, start stirring it with a wooden spoon to cook evenly.
Cook bacon for about 5 minutes, or until crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Drain bacon grease, leaving only about 2 tablespoons.
Cook Beef and Cabbage:
